Lone PeAk

  This is me.

Yesterday a group of us climbed our mountain. We started at 6:55am from Alpine.

It's kind of steep.

Here's the group.

Like I said, it's kind of steep.

It's pretty big. The wind was blowing like crazy.

The end gets hairy. Those little tiny people are at the summit. You have to scramble over these boulders with huge cliffs on both sides to get there. Kind of like Angel's Landing, but no chain to hold onto and climbing over big rocks. Really cool, but pretty intense.

Around 12:30 pm.
The summit is a little peninsula about the size of the key in basketball with cliffs on 3 sides. I've been up 3 times, and I freak out up there every time. Usually I'm telling people to SIT DOWN because it makes me so nervous. This time my hat blew off. Of course your first instinct is to lunge for it to keep it from blowing off the mountain. I moved about a centimeter, then fear froze me. The hat actually landed about 6 ft away and sat there. I made a girl get it for me because I was too chicken to scoot over closer to the edge.

Here's our buddy, Lee, that takes me up. His sister lead our group this time, she had gone this way before. She's amazing.

We made it back!! About 5pm.

Third time's the charm? I think I might be done. That is one bad mountain!

10K

I've never been much for running, but somehow this summer I trained and ran in the Peach Days 10K. Jennie B. Stevens, my sister, mentor, and coach ran with me. She has been injured and said she probably wouldn't finish, but you know what happened. Jill and Adam Frandsen were there, too.

I was tired, but it was fun, especially to run in good old BC.  Jennie, you rock. Thanks for helping me stay on track! See you next year...

She made me weep!

This little lady has grown up so much lately.  It doesn't help that she thinks and acts just like her sister that is 4 years older than her.  She has done so well at developing her talents.  She has the most incredible focus -- for a six year old!  Well, tonight she faced her fears and played the violin in front of people.  She had her first recital and did a great job.  In fact, she made me cry! If I can figure out how to upload the video I will, but until then look at these beautiful pictures!!

First Day of School! First Day of School!

Oh my!  Summer was toooooo short!!  Now it's school time.  Shayla is so happy about going back to school.  Cambree can't wait to start and Tianne is beyond excited. So what's wrong with me?  I want to curl up in a ball and cry! (In fact I have) 5th, 1st, and preschool....seriously? Where have the years gone?

Shayla and Tianne started Monday

Cambree started Tuesday after doing testing on Monday

Check out my shoes...and the matching toes!

On Shayla!!! (Oh My!)

The Last Days of Summer

Summer has come and gone!  Even though August isn't completely over, our summer is.  Here's a look at the last days of our summer break.

Rumor has it we had a Broadbent Family Reunion. (I wouldn't know since my sister decided to share the flu with me.)  A few great moments were captured.

Unfortunately I shared too and these next two pictures is how our reunion ended.

Never fear....another reunion is around the corner
The Baird Family Reunion......(I had vertigo -- can't win!)

Hurray!  Another cabin to stay in!!!!

Bear Lake
(Can you guess what Tianne is doing?)

A new phase of life started this summer...

I'm not sure how happy I am with this one.

Balloon Festival!
Nothing like rolling out of bed really early in the summer!!

The last hurrah picnic with the cousins

One last quick hike to see a dried up waterfall.
Shayla was too popular spending the night at her cousins than to hike with us.

Summer can't end without a baseball game...
PLAY BALL!!!

I love these people!  I can't imagine a more perfect summer than being with this family!
Thanks for the fun...
